“I am a single mother, essential worker with absolutely no one in my home to help me watch my 3 year old son. I moved him to three different day cares as they all eventually closed one after the other. I had no choice but to drive him to my sister’s house who lives in Lake Elsinore. Both my son and I were sad and distressed about not being together. When YMCA decided to open its doors for people in my situation, I was overwhelmed with joy. Through this pandemic it is very difficult to be a working single mother. To not be able to be with your child in such a scary time is awful. YMCA has allowed me to have my baby with me and the peace of mind that they are loving, caring, and protective of my son. My son absolutely loves YMCA and wakes up ecstatic every morning to go to school. He has never loved or enjoyed going to school as much as he does now. In the past, it was always a struggle to get him to school. Now he wakes up early and eager. This tells me that the staff at YMCA is far more than outstanding. The program and curriculum are so impressive. The yoga and meditation exercises are beyond anything I would’ve expected. Thank you for making my son safe and extremely happy in these difficult times while I work to pay our bills. The arts and crafts he brings home is my reminder that there are truly wonderful people in this world willing to give more than just a handout. Thank you YMCA!”

“She can’t wait to go in the morning, she runs from the car when her father drops her off”.

“I honestly assumed that I was going to have to do all my child’s schoolwork with her in the evenings after work – which I didn’t know how I was going to manage. But the wonderful staff at the Y helps her log into her Google hangouts with her teacher and her class, and they help her with her assignments too.”

“I just wanted to share that my kids (4 & 6) have been at the Y for less than 2 weeks and they absolutely love it. In fact, they get upset with me when I pick them up early or skip a day, which is remarkable because my 4 year old was not very fond of his previous daycare. Grouping the kids with children the same age has helped my shy child be more comfortable in a small group. This “pop-up” Y location has been nothing short of a true lifesaver.”
